Sensor Mounts on Robots

I designed a number of sensor mounts to enable our applied science team’s policy development. Through this experience, I learned a lot about what it takes to develop a “good” camera mount for research development. A “good” camera mount prioritizes repeatability as well as reliability. It has alignment features to mount the camera in the same spot between robots and through testing if it bumps the table or the environment, doesn’t break or fall easily. If it’s misaligned, there’s a clear indication that it needs adjusting. Collaborating closely with the science team has allowed me to be a better roboticist, as I’ve taken their priorities into consideration when designing other parts.
